Gone to the Dogs

This is not the first time Cupcake, my puggle, has crashed a flatlay shoot.  She once moved a cashmere sweater up on to the bed for a luxurious nap.  She was very intrigued with this particular shoot and perhaps a bit jealous of the sequined terrier.  This t-shirt is a great way to add a little casual holiday sparkle.  She also may have wanted to add a touch of leopard to the look.  Cupcake (CC) has been switching between her leopard bandana and a plaid one.

I styled the t-shirt with black denim, a navy pouch and plaid shoes (it may be time to admit I have a plaid shoe addiction).  These shoes had been sold out and I recently found them in my size.  I will link a couple of similar options below as inventory seems to change daily.

Black and White and Read All Over

I remember my Grandmother teaching me the riddle “What’s black and white and red all over?” when I was about my son’s age.  I thought it was so clever.  We recently starting  subscribing to the  Sunday New York Times again after a long stretch of getting our news online.  I missed having a paper and also feel like my son should grow up with one in the house.  It is great that you can search and find things online and my husband is a big fan of flipboard, but there is something about the tactile experience.  My son asks me to read him sections and looks at the photographs.

I moved from San Francisco to New York in 1999 as a result of the Sunday Times.  One Sunday I saw an add announcing a new consulting firm that sounded interesting.  I wrote a cover letter and sent my resume that day.  I ended up moving across the country and being employee eighty-nine of what became a very successful start up.  I never would have known about the company if not for a Sunday where I took more time than usual to read the paper.

I take my time reading it now.  Sometimes I am catching an article on a Tuesday afternoon with my lunch.  It is not about the headlines and being up to the minute.  It is about enjoying the experience.  And I am finding articles I likely would not have found online.

Doggie Stripes at Georgie

When I came home with my J. Crew for NET-A-PORTER purchases my husband said “Another striped long sleeve tee?”.  I am afraid to do an inventory count.  Then he saw the sequined dog and said, “THAT is a keeper”, which is something he rarely says.  His side (or should I say third of a side) of our closet it a carefully curated selection.  He is ruthless when it comes to cleaning out his closet.  If they had a men’s version of this t-shirt, he might be adding one more to his collection.

The tee-shirt is super soft.  I styled it with my J. Crew lookout high rise jeans, Panama hat and, of course, leopard flats.  We headed to a new favorite spot for coffee, tea and pastries, Georgie, in Beverly Hills.  My son says they make the BEST croissants.
