Bricks and Patterns

More is more when it comes to patterns and textures.  My Antonello Tedde clutch just got a workout on my recent trip to Paris.  It was the perfect evening bag (and I love that it has a strap when you want to jump on the metro or snap a photo).  I styled it below with another workhorse from my vacation in Paris,  my seersucker blazer.  It added the perfect polish to my t-shirts, white denim and kicks while running around museums and sightseeing.

Check out the full selection of Antonello Tedde at 24 Sevres the online site for Le Bon Marche.  I visited several times including my first afternoon on no sleep while my husband and son rested.

Mani Monday – Tipsy French Edition

Bonjour!  I woke up this morning at 3:30 am with thoughts of my fresh croissant and cafe creme.  Instead I made myself an iced black coffee and had some overnight oats with hemp, flax and chia.  Back to reality.  The nine days in Paris to celebrate my birthday were glorious.   It was my son’s first trip out of the United States, so we hit all the usual spots. I loved seeing them all again through his eyes.  We stayed in the same neighborhood where I spent ten days in the mid-90s.  I kept flashing back to pre-marriage and mommy memories as my family  made new memories.

In preparation for the trip I got a gel mani with a tipsy french tips.  My mani paired nicely with my aperitif of choice, kir and all things Paris.  The gel held up well as you can see in the photos (some were taken more than a week after the mani).

I may hold on to this mani for a few more days as I reminisce and ease back into my California life. I will miss the walking and the endless light of the summer long days.

Adieu.  Until next time…

Camo Obsession

I will never tire of camo.  It’s as neutral as leopard print for me.   I wish I could fit into this crewcuts blazer I just picked for my son.  I have a lot of friends that can wear a boys size 14 or 16, so if you are smaller, go for it.  It’s a great blazer.

In the meantime my son looks great in his and I have my own light weight army jacket in blue.

Hair Game Changer – Dyson

I want a time machine. I want to go back and get all that time I spent drying my hair back.

Today is different.  The Dyson Hair Dryer is my hair game changer. I must confess, I do not blow dry my hair on a regular basis. It’s been a number of years since I have. It takes me over 45 minutes to do a decent job.  Instead, I rely on bi-weekly blowouts by a stylist.  It’s an indulgence I enjoy, but it is not always convenient.  So….

I have had my eye on the Dyson for a few months. I took the plunge.

I have blown out my hair several times and the results are amazing.  I am able to dry my hair so that it’s smooth, shiny and not frizzy in 20 minutes. Yes, in less than half my usual time. The Dyson is worth every penny – and it does cost a lot of them — in my book.  I am down to a weekly professional blowout (and I have even skipped a couple of weeks).  There are three attachments (including a diffuser) that are easy to take on and off as they are magnetic.

If you are in the market for a new blow dryer, an upgrade, this is the blow dryer for you. I am 100% happy with this purchase – and the time it has bought me for more interesting pursuits than drying my hair. Now if could just find that time machine…

I wrote about two other hair game changers here and here. I also get a head start with this fast drying turban that I have used for twenty years

The Dyson is available herehere and here.

Here’s to good hair days!

Mani Monday – In the Pink Edition

I’m starting off my birthday week in the pink. It’s a throwback to my nail game before I discovered nail art. Back then, I used to alternate between pale pinks and wear my mani for at least two weeks. My, how times change. I love this subtle stripe with the negative space of my nail-art-adjacent manicure.

Jungle Clutch

My easy summer look continues to be on repeat with denim, a tee and blazer.  For this monochromatic look I added a couple of patterns with my jungle clutch and leopard flats.  Add in my new favorite sunglasses and and a chaga latte (no dairy, sugar or caffeine and so good) and I am ready for any summer day.

Riding into Summer

School is out for the summer!  Yesterday my son and I attended a very fun second grade end of the year party complete with karaoke, a scavenger hunt and water balloons.  My son sang “Fireball”.  One of the mom’s who also has a sixth grader reminded me to savor these moments as this time and this grade is simple, innocent and most of all fleeting.  I look forward to summer adventures with my third grader, but I can’t help but wonder where my preschooler went.  I remember him striding into his last day of Pre-K like it was yesterday and yet he’s grown almost a foot and achieved so many milestones. The days can be long, but the years fly by.  I am hoping to slow down and savor a lot of fun moments and make some great summer memories.

Mani Monday – Summer Bright Edition

We are in the home stretch.  Just a few more days until summer vacation and I must say it is looking bright.  We have some fun travels planned this summer as well as list of local sights and activities we want to check off.  The days are longer and we finally broke out of “June gloom” and into some sunny warm weather.  I was inspired to pick up the cutest denim mules this weekend as an early birthday treat to myself and they ended up being comfortable on an impromptu walk.  Hello, summer everyday shoe!

The manicure and nail art are by Olive & June.  The color is “Sit Me in the Front Row” by Essie Gel Couture.

Polished Blue and White

It’s been a busy week with several meetings.  I had a few of my favorite blazers and jeans on rotation.  For this look I kept it simple with blue and white and fun accessories like this clutch and these sandals.  Soon I will be trading this look for beach coverups (like this one and this one I have ready to go), swimsuits and the bag I featured earlier this week here.

Beach Ready

We are in the final week of school, but I am ready to report to the beach for summer duty.  I picked up this perfect, lightweight tote last weekend at Barneys and had it customized at thedropLA.  I’ve had my eye on it for a while and I had a reward card burning a hole in my pocket.  The tote is perfect for summer along with my new “jelly” sandals (they are under $50!).  I love the cork detail.  I added stripes, white denim, new favorite sunglasses and I am summer and beach ready.
