Statement on Top

“I am putting blinders on.  I only need a dress.” I say to my mom as we head out for a quick shopping trip.  I don’t need anything else.  “Famous last words.” she says under her breath.

We head over the hill and to a relatively large Nordstrom for Los Angeles.  I make a beeline for the dresses and find this one (and it’s navy!).  It fits like a glove, but it is a tad too formal for the event I have in mind.

And then I see them…an amazing selection of statement blouses and it’s hard to choose just one.  Luckily, I find some companion pants on the sale rack (including this amazing dark navy that can play navy or black easily).

I found ensembles for not one, but two events.  A few days later I find this gorgeous blue top (below).  The color is much deeper than the online photos.

Arking into to Fall

Welcome Fall!  I am easing into fall while the temperatures are still a bit warm with camo, bell sleeves and my favorite ark bag that was on repeat all Summer.  Not only do I love the look of this bag (which is back in stock, by the way), but it holds a lot and has proven to be very practical.  I may need to add this tortoise shell one and this shape (that packs flat) to my collection.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Early access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started today.  I styled the eight looks below.

I had a hard time choosing jeans this year, so I picked up several.  There are so many fun washes and details.

It is a great time to stock up on basics as well.  Everything is 30- 50% off with early access to cardholders through July 20.  General access runs from July 21 – August 6th.  Prices go up on August 7th.

Falling into Neutral

I can not believe it is officially fall as of last week.  Of course it really does not feel like it in Southern California with our recent heat wave.  I styled a few year round neutral basics with some fall booties for a day out before it hit 90 degrees.  The look is all J. Crew with Vince booties that I picked up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in July.  They are still available and are 30% off.  My frayed denim pencil skirt in white from J. Crew has been on repeat and will likely continue to be along with my Western chambray shirt.  The booties give it a fall look.  I love that there are no seasonal rules about white denim.  J. Aubergine and Asphalt

There are so many great pieces in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  In my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale post last week I featured six looks.  Here is a detailed look at the Paige Skinny Jeans in Aubergine and the Rag & Bone Booties in Asphalt.  As you may have noticed, I rarely wear black shoes.  I prefer a little color or interest with my shoes.  I love that these are as versatile as black while still being interesting.  Colored demin is such a great way to dress up denim and these skinny jeans are definitely super skinny, but also so comfortable.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

I look forward to the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale every year. It is a great time to get some new fall looks at a third to half off before they go back to regular price on August 8, 2016.  It started today, July 14, 2016 with early access to cardholders. General access begins next Friday, July 22, 2016. I have put together six ensembles with my picks from the sale.  I have been looking for the perfect booties forever.
