Fall Colors in Santa Barbara

This summer we visited the Santa Barbara Historical Museum.  It is so well put together with great interactive exhibits for kids.  I highly recommend it.  My son loved it and we visited two weeks in a row.  I also loved the adobe building, so on our second visit I took advantage and shot this fall look.

Falling into Neutral

I can not believe it is officially fall as of last week.  Of course it really does not feel like it in Southern California with our recent heat wave.  I styled a few year round neutral basics with some fall booties for a day out before it hit 90 degrees.  The look is all J. Crew with Vince booties that I picked up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in July.  They are still available and are 30% off.  My frayed denim pencil skirt in white from J. Crew has been on repeat and will likely continue to be along with my Western chambray shirt.  The booties give it a fall look.  I love that there are no seasonal rules about white denim.  J. Casual Stripes

Tied with my love of leopard is my love of blue and white, particularly blue and white stripes.  I am always excited when I spot a new take on the classic blue and white.  This J. Crew shirt has a club collar and the fabric is a textured jacquard with the coolest buttons. The jeans are also a new J. Crew cut and style called the straightaway.  I love the exposed button fly.  I had forgotten how comfortable a button fly can be.

Crazy for Leopard

It is no secret that I love leopard print, so I naturally “leopardize”.  I am fluent in speaking J. Crew.  I featured this Drake’s silk shirt a couple of weeks ago with a white skirt in Pinking into Fall.  I love how different it looks with the leopard cardigan and black jeans.

Wild Flamingo in Montecito

Saying goodbye to summer is hard.  Last week we got away for an end of the summer mini-vacation to Santa Barbara and had so much fun.  We stayed in Montecito where my husband and I were engaged and married as I mentioned in Pom-Poms at the Courthouse.  We had a great time with a visit to the Santa Barbara Zoo, beach and pool time, and some great meals.

I decided to add a pop of pink (wild flamingo to be exact according to J. Crew speak) to my navy in this outfit to reflect both my end of summer blues and my excitement for fall. These photos were taken at the Montecito Inn, which was built by Charlie Chaplin in 1928. You can read more about the history here.  The hotel is so charming and I love the archways.

Aubergine and Asphalt

There are so many great pieces in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  In my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale post last week I featured six looks.  Here is a detailed look at the Paige Skinny Jeans in Aubergine and the Rag & Bone Booties in Asphalt.  As you may have noticed, I rarely wear black shoes.  I prefer a little color or interest with my shoes.  I love that these are as versatile as black while still being interesting.  Colored demin is such a great way to dress up denim and these skinny jeans are definitely super skinny, but also so comfortable.
