Gauchos are back!

As you have seen in my posts, I wear a lot of jeans.  White jeans, denim and colored denim.  I wanted a different silhouette. These J. Crew Rory pants remind me of the gauchos of my youth and they are so comfortable.  I styled them with my favorite sleeveless drapey top, a necklace for a pop of color and of course leopard print sandals. The best part – they are low maintenance and machine washable just like the top.

Coral and stripes

The countdown is on for our family vacation on the East Coast later this summer.  I am looking forward to beach days with the kids and easy evening one step summer dressing with dresses.  I featured this dress in gingham in this post.  Here it is in coral.  It is so comfortable, but crisp and polished with the shirting details.

Polka Dots and Stripes

This pattern mix is pretty tame for me in my favorite navy and white. The skirt is so easy to wear.  I know I will use the clutch all summer long.  The blouse, skirt, and clutch are all on sale at J. Crew.  The shoes are sold out, but I have linked another option.

Navy and Leopard

For a recent night out, I pumped up the makeup and went with all navy with a pop of leopard.  My Gianvito Rossi leopard sandals were a huge splurge last year and they are currently on sale at Barney’s.  They are incredibly comfortable and once again,  I find it easy to style leopard print with just about anything.

Blue Tropics

In High School I was definitely preppy.  I loved stripes, solids and, of course, Liberty prints (as I mentioned in this post).  For a time, I worked as a hostess at the Chart House and had to wear a Hawaiian print dress. The uniform choice was not my favorite and I remember being horrified if I had to go somewhere before or after work. It turned me off of tropical prints all together.  Leave it to J. Crew to take a tropical print give it a few stripes and make it modern.  This top is currently on sale along with my favorite striped flats.

Windy Gingham and Leopard

Yesterday’s post was about the shoes that were the inspiration for The Navy Leopard.  I’m still wearing them almost two years later.   I was happy to have them with me on our recent anniversary getaway to Santa Barbara that I wrote about in this post.  We ended up walking a lot.  It was also very windy, so I paired them with this this gingham cashmere twinset from J.Crew.  They are a great option if you want to be comfortable, but want something more stylish than the shoes you wear for exercise.

It all started in Paris with these shoes…

FullSizeRender(105)

The purchase of these Adidas by Stella McCartney navy leopard shoes was the seed for this blog.  I bought them on our first trip out of the country and away from our son in the fall of 2014.  We went to Paris for my sixth time and my husband’s first trip there. They replaced the walking shoes I had brought that turned out to be less comfortable than I anticipated.   Additionally, you can’t just wear any old pair of shoes in Paris.

At the time I thought about all the adventures I would have in my navy leopard shoes and that it would be a fun name for a blog.  Almost two years later,  The Navy Leopard was born.

The shoes are very comfortable and are one of my favorite pairs.  They are sold out, but here is a similar style that I think would mix just as well with other patterns and solids.

Here’s to planting seeds!

Yellow Leopard

I love leopard is obviously an understatement for me.  When I saw this yellow leopard bracelet,  I instantly loved it.  I thought about for a few weeks.  I am trying to shop my closet these days and only buy what I really love.  I don’t mind spending on things I wear over and over again.  The worst is when you get caught up in the new styles and don’t wear something very often.  This bracelet stuck with me and once I bought it, I wore it right away (a good sign).    It is such a great pop of color and great nod to the Cartier Panthere bracelet without being a knockoff.  It’s fun and easy to wear.  I am styling it with one of my favorite shirts from J. Crew from last year (that I was thrilled to see again this year in the recent roll out), my favorite white jeans, and statement flats with pom-poms.  The shoes are sold out, but J. Crew has a lot of unique styles and colors in the latest roll out.
