Fall Confession

I have a confession.  I do not love fall.  I don’t like Pumpkin Spice Lattes.  I enjoyed fall more in a real four season climate (New York, Chicago) where the fashion changes actually went with the weather.  In Los Angeles it still feels like summer with less daylight.  We lose just a little each day, but I notice it.  I can no longer drive to Sunday night mediation with my sunglasses on.  I long for summer.  I miss the long carefree days with no homework and lots of traveling.  Now the school year seems long, even though it flies by.  I prefer summer clothes.  You can’t layer a sweater over a bell sleeve top.  Or can you?

I decided to try just that with this new gingham bell sleeve top.  I chose a cashmere sweater with three quarter sleeves.  I completed the look with my skinny black jeans and favorite new shoes.  Maybe I can learn to love fall…

Jeans and a Blazer with a side of Bees

The easiest way to dress up jeans and a tee is with a blazer.  This blazer is so versatile in basic black with white piping and can easily be dressed up.  I kept this look casual with  bee mules, denim and a white tee.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale continues through Sunday, August 6th.  Prices return to full price on Monday, August 7th.  Don’t miss out! More of my picks are here.

Easy Elegance

Another blue and white striped shirt?  Yes!  This one has built in cuffs.  I love the look of a button down shirt under a striped shirt, but sometimes don’t want the extra layer.  The best thing about this one is that it has the cuffs and not the collar so that I can wear one of my many silk scarves.  Many of J. Crew’s latest offerings are at what they call a “Freak out” price.  This top is only $45 and I think should be on J. Crew’s “Freak Out” List along with the items here.

I styled it with what have become my favorite got to basics: J. Crew Toothpick Jeans in Black, Ryan sunglasses and Leopard Flats.  I added one of the scarves from my collection.  It is an instantly pulled together look that still has the comfort of a striped long sleeve t-shirt.
