Plaid Tidings

Plaid Tidings!  Happy Holidays!

I have taken what has turned into an extended break on the blog and nail art.  But…It would not be the holidays without a little holiday nail art.  In fact, it was one little plaid nail three years ago that turned my ballet slippers loving self into a nail art fan.  While this year has flown by it seems like a both a second ago and a long time ago that I set out on my 30- day no shopping challenge.  It ended up changing the way I approach shopping just as my 30- day clean eating challenge did the year before.  I want to make a similar shift this year, but I am not sure what I want to shift.  I am already scheduled for Elissa Goodman’s SOUP cleanse in January.  While I mediate regularly, I am considering the Unplug 30-day challenge.  I am also considering challenging myself to write everyday for 30 days.  I have been working on a couple of projects that could use a bit more consistency.

I will report back soon.

Enjoy the end of the year.  Best wishes for a joyful 2018!

Mad for Plaid

I am all in when it comes to plaid.  I love the the tuxedo details on this blazer and could not resist matching my heels.  I kept it high/low with my new favorite vintage straight denim.  If you have been frustrated with distressed holes that continue to grow, these are for you.  They are patched underneath.

I updated my makeup with a few products by Chanel.  Including: a neutral eye shadow palette (Les Beiges) that I am already using more colors than the beige (they made the lightest color twice as large as the other colors – brilliant!).  I am also wearing the mimosa light creating base, blush (elegance)brow pencil (blond dore), eyeliner (feuilles) , volume mascara (black), lip liner (nude) and a new color (light rose) of my favorite long-wearing lip color.

A Few of My Favorite Things…

Plaid, leopard, stripes and camo are a few of my favorite things.  I usually have at least two of them represented.  These plaid shoes have potential to wear well after the holidays.  I styled them with this adorable leopard tee (with a navy collar), denim, cashmere cardigan and custom pouch.

These plaid, leopard and tortoise home accents are perfect for the holidays and beyond.

The Countdown

December is here!  Did you know the number of advent Sundays until Christmas seems shorter this year?  The fourth one is on Christmas Eve.  So the countdown of shopping days is on.  Hanukkah is only 11 days away!  I am excited to break out our advent calendars tonight (Hot Wheels and Lego).  I may treat myself this one or this one.

Plaid is part of just about every one of my outfits these days.  For this look I styled my plaid shoes from last year (these and these would also look great) with this pink tee, denim and the coziest sweater.  I think this striped bag would complete the casual look perfectly .  I hope Santa follows my blog.

A Touch of Plaid

It is no secret that I am mad for plaid.  My collection of plaid shoes is growing and I had to have these heels.  I styled them with my lace pants from last year that are available this year (I may add the red version to the mix) and my velvet blazer, white t-shirt and a tartan pouch (also available in this smaller size).  This scarf is a great way to add a pop of plaid and if you are not into heels these flats are so easy to wear with everything!

I am adding this adorable eye mask to my gifts for a touch of tartan and this umbrella makes a great gift. On my list are these PJs.  My family has been fighting over this cozy plaid throw, so I ordered two more.

Plaid Between the Lines

Plaid shoes really do go with everything.  I wore plaid shoes from a few years ago with a striped shirt and jeans to go see Santa in 80 degrees last weekend.  My current dilemma is how many is too many? I have been collecting at least one pair a year for the last few years and I get a lot of wear out of them for several months a year.  This year there are several pairs I am considering including this pair with a blue velvet ankle strap (below and 40% off!), this fun pair and this pair of heels (also 40% off).

These booties are fun too.

Casual Plaid

I am preparing for the holiday with a casual plaid ensemble.  I just got these plaid sneakers in the mail and it was a great mail day!  They are selling fast, so don’t miss out.  I styled them with a plaid shirt, pom-pom sweatshirt, denim and a custom clutch (which makes a great gift under $100).  Check back on Friday for more of my plaid shoe picks.

It’s time for Plaid!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like the holidays which to me says it’s time for plaid.  I am mad for plaid as it brings back happy memories of when the Preppy Handbook was my bible. Plaid dresses up even the most basic holiday attire and adds the perfect touch to home holiday decor.

Last year  J. Crew had plaid shoes and pants.  I was lucky enough to get two of each and wore them repeatedly throughout the holiday season.  They sold out fast (within a day of being on the website).

This year is another chance to add to your prodigious plaid pantheon with their two new adorable styles that are linked and shown below.   They are available now through the links below.  They will hit the website next week and will be featured in the December Style Guide.  Now is the time to snap them up.  I ordered both today.  Don’t delay.
