Ready for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is one week away.  I wanted to share a few fun gift options.  Last year I treated myself to this envelope clutch (monogrammed of course).  There are a bunch of fun options (below) from Parker Thatch.

I styled my clutch with red and pink for a casual look.

Home Stretch…

The detox on shopping has led to more time at home, which has been nice.  I have also been battling a cold off and on for the last month, so the at home timing has been good.  In fact, I am beginning to wonder if 28 days will be enough.  Last year my husband and I did our “Whole 30” plan that morphed into the Bulletproof plan (more on that here and here) for much longer than 28 days.  Our habits are far from perfect, but detoxing food-wise for that long did make some permanent changes.  We continue to consume far less sugar than we used to and really don’t have the same taste for it.

There have been a few things that have been tempting with all the January sales.  My resolve is still strong, but these sales are really good.  Several items I have featured recently are on the J. Crew website at rock bottom prices like this bomber jacketshirtshirt, shoesshirt, pullover, bell-sleeved top, and  blazer.

In another week I will be at 28 days.  I will see how I feel then. In the meantime, the closet clean out continues with several new things on Poshmark this week.  My dog, Cupcake, is my constant companion and is loving more time at home.  She insisted on crashing this photo shoot where I styled these adorable striped heels (that I picked up this fall pre-detox) with gingham, a sweater, denim and I could not decide between my camo clutch and my custom canvas pouch.

Stars and Denim Three Ways

“Mommy, I am too sick to go to laser tag.” said my seven year old from the back of the car.   He woke up counting down the minutes to his classmate’s birthday party.  After six days at home he finally went to school.  It has been a long week of being cooped up and taking care of him.  I feel so lucky that I have the flexibility to be home with him, but I was definitely in need of some “me time” as he headed back to school.

It also provided a distraction from “not shopping” which is getting easier and easier.  I am not sure 28 days will be enough.  I am in the midst of a closet clean out and have developed my own version of the Kondo method that does not involve emptying my closet onto the floor and utilizes the color navy blue.  More on that soon.

In the meantime, I have had fun shopping my own closet.  I love this cashmere sweater.  It is lightweight and a great layering piece.  When I lived in colder climates I was always too warm inside with heavier sweaters.  I styled it with the same favorite denim and different handbags, shoes and jackets.

Festive Casual

One part lace, one part embellished plaid, a pinch of camo and one pair of plaid embellished shoes equals festive casual and comfortable. I continue to love mixing prints and patterns and my camo clutch has been one of my most reached for clutches this holiday season (and it holds everything!).

Holiday Pattern Mix

My plaid shoes get a workout from November through January and even make appearances year round.  This year I have loved mixing them with camo.  This clutch has been my most reached for bag as I head out the door and I have paired it with everything.  I am even considering a second one with this sparkly stripe. My camo jacket that I featured here has been a fun way to mix with plaid along with my faux fur leopard coat (a bargain from Gap).

Casual Plaid

I am preparing for the holiday with a casual plaid ensemble.  I just got these plaid sneakers in the mail and it was a great mail day!  They are selling fast, so don’t miss out.  I styled them with a plaid shirt, pom-pom sweatshirt, denim and a custom clutch (which makes a great gift under $100).  Check back on Friday for more of my plaid shoe picks.

Camo and Monograms

My go with everything leopard clutch needs a rest once in awhile.  Meet my new neutral clutch in camo from Parker Thatch.  It has already been on steady repeat in less than a week. I styled it with a Liberty print shirt, denim and my orange driving shoes. I also love the clutch in this navy striped version.

The mimi tote from Parker Thatch in camo is definitely on my list.  I just need to decide which way to personalize it (white large letters, HAPPY or letters with kiss.) The totes and clutches are made in California and are so fun to customize.

Also on my list from Parker Thatch are a monogrammed sweatshirt in gray or white and a striped shirt.  Santa, I hope you are reading this.

Stars in the Spotlight

I wished upon a star for cozy, navy blue cashmere.  J. Crew granted  my wish with this adorable year-round kaleidoscope star sweater.  The everyday cashmere line is well priced and the styles are adorable.  I also love thisthis and this (in so many great colors!).

I styled the sweater with denimtweed flats and a gold clutch.  I also love this gold clutch with tassel.  My new camo clutch is another great option.  It’s coming to the blog  on Friday.

Love, Stripes and Camo

I am ready to fall into The Gap again.  I have been on the hunt for a camo jacket to throw on over everything.  I spotted this jacket at The Gap and scooped it up immediately (it’s under $50 with the current promo CHEERS).  Others I have considered (like this, this and this) are almost ten times the price.  I love the striped details and I lost count of compliments the first time I wore it with a navy t-shirt and sneakers.  I also ordered this jacket in dark night from The Gap today (the army green with leopard print was tempting too).

I styled it with a Saint James tee, denim, navy velvet frayed sandals and one of my favorite Parker Thatch clutches.  I just ordered this camo clutch from Parker Thatch (it arrives tomorrow and I can hardly wait!)

Rugby Soft

This rugby shirt brings me back to high school, only I don’t remember my rugby shirts being this soft.  J. Crew has done an excellent job of bring back their 1984 rugby shirt and making it slimmer and softer (than at least I remember).   I have it in two of the three colors; I am tempted to make it a rugby trifecta with the olive and champagne version.  I featured the blue and white here.  All three colors are now on back order, but they will be worth the wait.  I have worn both shirts with everything from jeans to shorts to skirts and dressed them up and down.

I styled the pink and navy with dark denim, sparkly flats and a custom Parker Thatch canvas clutch.
