I love dresses for summer. They are so easy, one step and you are dressed and yet you also feel more dressed up. There is nothing better to beat the heat. I have this J. Crew dress in navy from last year and also coral from this year. I was so excited to see it in Gingham. The shoes are super comfortable and are on sale.
Note: this dress, like the Candy Stripe Cashmere Shell from this post and Liberty Blouse from this post, keeps selling out and then they are each often replenished the next day. So don’t be discouraged by seeing sold out at first. I recommend trying the link in the morning for the most inventory.
This pattern mix is pretty tame for me in my favorite navy and white. The skirt is so easy to wear. I know I will use the clutch all summer long. The blouse, skirt, and clutch are all on sale at J. Crew. The shoes are sold out, but I have linked another option.
This week was a inspired by my favorite blue daisy shirt from this post. I was in the mood for something darker and the flower gives it the perfect Spring pop.
The color is “Momma” by RGB Cosmetics (similar RGB color here) and the manicure and nail art are by Olive & June.
For a recent night out, I pumped up the makeup and went with all navy with a pop of leopard. My Gianvito Rossi leopard sandals were a huge splurge last year and they are currently on sale at Barney’s. They are incredibly comfortable and once again, I find it easy to style leopard print with just about anything.
This is one of my all time favorite shirts from J. Crew. Of course, it is in my favorite navy blue. I love the daisies. It is currently on sale. I styled it with my favorite white jeans and striped shoes (also on sale).
J. Crew Liberty shirts are hard for me to resist as a I mentioned a few weeks ago in this post. I love this blue one that just came out last week. It is not my usual navy for a change and I love it with lavender. The print pairs nicely with some flats from last year, but I have linked a current style that I think will also look great. I get a lot of wear out of my J. Crew Rhodes white linen blazer.
There is nothing like a rainbow to brighten your day. J. Crew included several pieces in candy stripe in the latest roll out. I love the featherweight cashmere twinset. I am wearing the shell with my favorite white jeans and chambray blazer. The featherweight is perfect for summer and I love wearing a rainbow of color. The whole collection is going fast, so do not hesitate.
About a month ago I wrote about a hair game changing SHHHOWERCAP in this post. I have been testing and trying a variety of dry shampoos for the last month. Dry Shampoo is the other half of my time saving, blowout saving strategy. The right one applied correctly can extend the life of a blowout for a few days. I only wash my hair one to three times a week, typically twice.
1. Rahua Volumizing Dry Shampoo
2. Bumble & Bumble Pret a Powder
3. Klorane Dry Shampoo with Nettle
4. Bumble & Bumble a bit blondish Hair Powder
5. Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
6. R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo
7. R+Co Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste
8. Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo
Rahua Volumizing Dry Shampoo – It is a light powder that absorbs into the scalp and hair easily. The sent is subtle. I really liked the result. The bottle and application take some getting used to. It does not leave a chalky finish, so you can go a couple of days longer after applying it
Bumble & Bumble Pret a Powder – It is also a light powder that absorbs into the scalp and hair easily. The sent is also subtle. The result was great. I went an additional day beyond and could have gone one more day with a clean ponytail. The bottle is easy to use.
Klorane Dry Shampoo with Nettle – This one is for oily hair. The spray is very easy to use. I typically only use a spray if I plan to wash my hair the next day. This one can last for a couple of days.
Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – This one gets rave reviews and I really like most Oribe products. It is good for adding texture to hair that has flattened over time, but does nothing to absorb oil. If you are not super oily, this is an easy one to use.
R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo – This is another fan favorite. It just was not my favorite. I felt like the spray left a gunky layer and I definitely needed to wash my hair the very next day. In fact, I wanted to wash it later that day.
R+Co Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste – This one had the most immediate impact. It is a paste and you put it on your fingertips and act like you are shampooing your scalp. It made my hair look instantly refreshed and gave it volume. However, the impact only lasted for a few hours. This would be a good choice for reviving your hair before an evening out when you want volume and a quick impact. Washing it the next morning will be required.
Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo – Another spray that was not my favorite. I find powders easier to use, but I know a lot of people prefer sprays. Similar to the R+Co, I wanted to wash my hair pretty soon after.
Overall, my favorite powder is Bumble & Bumble Pret a Powder and my favorite spray is Klorane (they offer several varieties for different types of hair). I will also keep R+Co Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste on hand for that last minute wow factor at the end my blowout cycle.
In High School I was definitely preppy. I loved stripes, solids and, of course, Liberty prints (as I mentioned in this post). For a time, I worked as a hostess at the Chart House and had to wear a Hawaiian print dress. The uniform choice was not my favorite and I remember being horrified if I had to go somewhere before or after work. It turned me off of tropical prints all together. Leave it to J. Crew to take a tropical print give it a few stripes and make it modern. This top is currently on sale along with my favorite striped flats.
