Mani Monday – Spring Flowers Edition

“On Tuesday it will be spring!” said my son.

“What are you most excited about?’ I ask.

“The flowers will bloom, and the days are getting longer.  And it is closer to summer” he replies.

I smile and think to myself that I am glad he is learning about the seasons in school.  California has never really delivered seasons on time and definitively, but this year feels particularly challenged.  As it was unseasonably cold on the West Coast a few weeks ago it was uncharacteristically hot on the East Coast.  Now everywhere seems colder than usual, so let’s bring on spring.

I love spring fashion right now.  In last week’s post I picked several options for spring.  That list has since grown to include this perfect cross body (aptly named the gosee), this striped cross body , these shoes and this jacket.

I am still making my shopping decisions carefully since my shopping detox that lasted 73 days more on that here, here, here and here.  For now, I am enjoying spring flowers on my nails.

The manicure and nail art are by Olive & June.  The color is “Sit Me in the Front Row“, by Essie Gel Couture.

Items in the photos include:

Rugby Shirt

Gingham Shirt

Striped Clutch

Navy and Rose Gold Kicks

Blue Daisy

My Michael De Feo for J. Crew t-shirts  have been on repeat.  The styling options are endless.  For this casual look I styled this Painted Daisy in Vase one with the J. Crew Field Mechanic Jacket, Frame Jeans, a Legends of Lido Clutch, J. Crew Ryan Sunglasses and the band new J. Crew Lea Ballet Flat.  I featured and styled all three t-shirts last week in Blooming in Blue.  This week’s mani is also inspired by this wearable art (Mani Monday – The Flower Guy Edition).

Mani Monday – The Flower Guy Edition

It feels like Spring.  At least in the stores and definitely this weekend in Los Angeles, actually make that Summer.  Nothing screams Spring like flowers.  The Michael De Feo for J. Crew collection of t-shirts give J. Crew‘s new roll a freshness that is irresistible.  I featured all three t-shirts (the Painted Daisy Vase, Striped with Painted Flowers, and Painted Tulips) last week in Blooming in Blue.  The collection inspired this week’s mani.

The color is “Mariniere” by Chanel.  The manicure and nail art are by Olive & June.

Blooming in Blue

While we endure the rain (as you know from Monday’s post, I love it!), we can wear this wearable art, by Michael De Feo (a.k.a. the flower guy) for J. Crew, while we await the Spring flowers to come.  They are each so unique, I had to get all three.  The Daisy Vase tee fits right in with my home decor.

Mani Friday – Pink Daisy Edition

I am loving all the pink in the new J. Crew collection and their challenge to wear pink for five days.  I decided to be bold and use a color on my hands that I would normally only wear on my toes.  I am loving this bright pink and the adorable daisy nail art.

The color is “Kiss Me, I’m Brazilian” by OPI.  The manicure and nail art are by Olive & June.

Happy Friday!

May Liberty Flowers

I was first introduced to Liberty Art Print fabrics in High School.  My mother traveled internationally for work and brought home a skirt that you finished yourself from the Liberty Store in London on Regent Street.  It was a beautiful navy Liberty print and had an elastic waist.  You finished it by cutting and sewing it to your size.  I loved the print and remember it well.  My first trip abroad was to London and I remember visiting the Liberty Store on Regent Street and being in awe of all the fabrics.

For the last few years, J. Crew has had several Liberty Arts fabric prints in the collection.  They have been mostly used in shirts with a few other pieces (including a clutch I missed out on).  I have been collecting the shirts for a few years now.

I wear them all the time and they are an easy way to elevate a basic button down with color.  The prints are classic, fun and easy to combine with other prints.  Below is a look I put together for Sunday morning breakfast with my family when we all woke up late.

J. Crew just brought out these shoes in a fun red in Liberty Arts Fabrics Wiltshire print.  They happen to be in my favorite go-to Gemma style.  I ordered them right away, they are online only and still available.

I already picture a lot of looks with these shoes including working them into my July 4th look.  In the meantime, it is nice to have some May flowers on my feet.

Happy May!
