“The no shopping challenge changed you.” my husband said the other day. While I am in the stores more than before my challenge, my purchases are still way down. I feel the need to stop and consider each purchase. Then I sleep on it. Nine times out of ten, I wake up decide that I don’t really need the item. That was not the case with a recent pair of sunglasses I could not stop thinking about and then splurged on. I just dropped them off to get my prescription filled. They will be coming to the blog soon, but here is a peek in the meantime. This pair was a runner-up (I love the vintage shape). This pair is a fun pink option (and under $100!).
Last summer I splurged on this Antonello Tedde clutch with (a strap). A similar one is on sale! I still have my eye on this bag (in white) for the summer, but the brown is a great neutral option as well. I am still loving my Cult Gaia Luna bag that I scored right before my shopping detox.

White Denim (also love this pair)
Shoes (older style these, these, these, and these would look great)
I’ve got sunshine at (and on) my fingertips. I am ready for sandals and spring weather after returning from the chilly east coast. My son and I visited Washington, DC for spring break. We had a blast, but were definitely bundled up and did not see the sun during our stay. We did see cherry blossoms and they were beautiful. I brought a little pink back in the form of triangles on my sunny yellow mani. I love pink and yellow together. This yellow color is one of my favorites and was included in my first Mani post just over two years ago (see here).

“On Tuesday it will be spring!” said my son.
“What are you most excited about?’ I ask.
“The flowers will bloom, and the days are getting longer. And it is closer to summer” he replies.
I smile and think to myself that I am glad he is learning about the seasons in school. California has never really delivered seasons on time and definitively, but this year feels particularly challenged. As it was unseasonably cold on the West Coast a few weeks ago it was uncharacteristically hot on the East Coast. Now everywhere seems colder than usual, so let’s bring on spring.
I love spring fashion right now. In last week’s post I picked several options for spring. That list has since grown to include this perfect cross body (aptly named the gosee), this striped cross body , these shoes and this jacket.
I am still making my shopping decisions carefully since my shopping detox that lasted 73 days more on that here, here, here and here. For now, I am enjoying spring flowers on my nails.

Got spring flowers? The weather in Los Angeles has been unseasonably cold and rainy, but I still have spring thanks to Liberty’s floral print. I styled the Liberty Print shirt with a chambray Regent blazer (similar here), Piper Sunglasses, Charlie Slides and Broken-In Slim Boyfriend Jeans (all from J. Crew).

Spring! I always go through an awakening when the season turns, even in Los Angeles which does not exactly deliver seasonal weather changes. In fact, we are bracing ourselves for rain and it was chilly today after being warm for the past few days. And yet, I experience the same awakening that I enjoyed in New York and San Francisco. It is as if a light bulb goes off and I suddenly feel more aware. I find myself thinking “Was I asleep?”
This week the first day of spring coincided with my husband having minor foot surgery. My day was spent caring for him, dropping him off, picking him up, and handling more at home. All went well but that’s not the only great part of today. Today, my husband and I were nicer and more patient with each other than we have been in a long time. It is not that we were not getting along, but it was that extra layer of kindness that made all the difference. I felt the awakening of my consciousness about kindness – “why don’t we act like this all the time?” “Where have WE been?” I do not ever want my husband or son to suffer, but I do love rising to the occasion and being their best caregiver when the stakes are high.
As part of my spring awakening, I’m layering myself in a really nice J. Crew indigo eyelet that is a nice change of pace from my typically more tailored look. I styled it with my favorite white jeans, Legend of Lido clutch and J. Crew shoes. These photos were shot on one of those warm pre-Spring days in San Diego and the top was perfectly breezy.
