2017 is off to a stripe-y start. It is no secret that I love stripes. Last week was a week of stripes. For this week’s mani, I am wearing black for the first time with negative space stripes.

The favorites of many unify into one. This mural, “Favorite Color” by Roy McMakin, was created by asking people their favorite color. He then presented them with of 4 to 6 swatches and asked them to choose the one that was closest to their favorite color. You can read more about the mural and the process here and here (including some controversy about if blue really is the most popular color).
It is so bright and cheerful and I love the grid. I decided to highlight orange (even though blue is clearly my favorite color) as I loved the pop. I styled my J. Crew cuffed striped shirt, Hermes Maxi-Twilly, J. Crew Signet Bag in Bright Sea, J. Crew Black Toothpick Jeans and Tod’s Driving Moccasins in orange. I am walking into 2017 inspired by the full spectrum of color.

Is it really over? The holidays arrive like a speeding train with all the preparations, shopping and decorating. Then each year the train departs until next year in the blink of an eye. I was happy to capture a little bit more of the holiday with this tree and bows.

One of my best purchases this season was the Velvet Clutch from J.Crew. I was excited to see it when it came out and bought it right away. It went with just as many things as black and added an elegant touch. I lost count of the times I reached for it to complete holiday outfits both casual and dressy. It made it into six blog posts. As my son and I research our trip to London in 2017, I am scheming how we can get to Paris for a few days, too. As Audrey Hepburn said, “Paris is always a good idea.”
Like Audrey, I also believe in pink. I styled my pink Velvet Blazer, with my Paris T-shirt, pink Jane sunglasses, glitter heels and a pink (monogrammed) wallet all from J. Crew. I added a pink Hermes scarf in keeping with the Paris theme and AG Jeans.

There has always been one pair of #shinyponies from J. Crew that I have wanted, but never splurged on, the Colette D’Orsay Pump in Leopard Print. My mom surprised me with them this year. I was so excited when I opened them that I had to immediately put them on with my plaid pajamas and leopard print Santa hat. My two favorite neutrals, leopard print and plaid, work so well together.

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend whether it was celebrating Christmas, the first two nights of Hanukkah or just a long weekend with friends and family. My mani this week is a wine color with a rose gold glitter. It’s festive and ready for end of the year and New Year’s celebrations.
