Mani Monday – Mad for Plaid Edition
It is no secret that I am mad for plaid. My first nail art was a plaid nail like this one with red nails a year ago. I have been hooked on nail art every since. Plaid Tidings
Now that the holiday season is in full swing, I broke out more plaid. Last night it was finally time for my six year old to open the first box on his Hot Wheels Advent Calendar. He is all about cars and when we saw this 1948 Ford Super Deluxe 8 at the amazing Cardiff Classics, we knew it was a perfect match with my ruffled plaid top.
I styled the top with my favorite plaid flats that I featured in It’s time for Plaid! (along with a scalloped heel version) my black toothpick jeans, velvet clutch and Ryan sunglasses all by J. Crew.

Zebras and Tigers, Oh My!
This stunning mural “Catnap” by Michael Summers is the perfect backdrop for my new J. Crew Zebra top. Summers says the design was inspired by the quote from American theologian Reinhold Neibuhr, “Change is the essence of life. Be willing to surrender what you are for what you may become.”

Be the Shoe – Book Party
I recently attended a Book Party for life coach Kathy Kelada’s new book “Be the Shoe”
Kelada has made breakthroughs with clients through shoe metaphors and was inspired to write the book as a result. It’s a beautiful book and a unique approach to self-help. I for one am ready for some “Closet Therapy”.
“Be the Shoe” makes a perfect gift for all the women in your life. The hand painted water colors of various shoes are stunning. As I wrote in Shoes Tell the Story, I have always said that shoes tell the story of your life. This book illustrates that in ways that will surprise you.

Stripes and Kisses
Yes, I know it is another blue and white striped shirt. But the embroidered lips were just irresistible. I styled it with my favorite faux fur stole from the J. Beam Me Up
After seeing “Arrival” for a movie date with my husband recently, I had aliens on the brain. A friend had spotted this wall for me the week before and it went perfectly with my mindset after the movie. If you have not seen “Arrival”, I highly recommend it. It was a casual Sunday date and the perfect opportunity to add a touch of plaid with my new favorite flats. I kept the rest of the look simple with my tried and true Western chambray shirt and black toothpick jeans both from J. Crew, as well as my J. Crew Ryan sunglasses. The Western chambray shirt has proven to be one of my best buys. I have worn it year round and featured it previously in Falling into Neutral and Demin on Denim.

Matchy Matchy
I’ll take all the plaid, all of it. I just can’t get enough. I just need a matching collar for Cupcake (my puggle) and we would be all set. J. Crew‘s holiday offerings have not disappointed this year. I hear there is even more next week! I can’t wait. In the meantime, I have had both the sadie flat and scalloped heel on repeat.
